This site has been developed to communicate important information to parents regarding Canter Park's Assertive Discipline Policy.


The Canter model was developed by Lee and Marlene Canter in 1976 and has evolved over time into a model which is used widely in schools today. Assertive Discipline is based on the premise that a teacher has a right to teach, just as a student has a right to learn, and provides a very structured and systematic approach to all areas of classroom management so that these basic rights can be provided for. The Assertive Discipline provides teachers - and parents - strategies to manage disciplinary issues in a positive and effective way.

The information on this site is designed to supplement the hard copy of the Behaviour Management Policy distributed to all parents at the commencement of the school year.

As outlined in the policy, parent support and involvement is crucial to the sucess of the Assertive Discipline Model.
